The present position is that the acute shortage of staff in all branches of the Administration and in the Essential Services require the presence in the Colony of some 210 persons, including dependents, while some 130 others remain temporarily to look after their own businesses here or because they feel themselves unable to face an English winter.

Approximately 120 persons who might be eligible for repatriation have elected to remain in Hong Kong

permanently.
